ABECIP
The Brazilian Savings and Loan Trade Association
ABECIP, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1967 with the mission of assisting public and private Brazilian S & L institutions in their pursuit of more effective housing finance systems.
Another objective of ABECIP is to represent its members in the contacts with legislative and regulatory authorities. These contacts, as well as, a close follow-up of law projects and new ideas related with the S & L sector, is made by ABECIP’s Brasilia branch.
ABECIP also promotes seminars, meetings and other events to keep its members informed about the latest news on real estate finance systems around the world.
Regular meetings of technical committees and a daily Internet newspaper keep ABECIP’s members up-to-dated regarding trade innovations.
Since its foudation, ABECIP has given an important contribution to the Brazilian S & L business by:
- Facilitating the exchange of knowledge and information among its members.
- Providing an environment for an efficient and profitable real estate finance industry;
- Working in partnership with the Government to preserve an efficient mortgage market;
- Creating the first local securitization company (CIBRASEC) and installing the domestic secondary mortgage market.
